From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During cruise flight, the aircraft experienced a sudden vibration along with the #1 engine surging and smoke in the cockpit. The flight crew declared an emergency and landed on runway 19 at Whiteman Afb. The aircraft landed without incident and the flight crew performed an emergency evacuation from the right side of the aircraft. No injuries were noted during flight or during evacuation. The investigation revealed that one of the left engine's fan blades liberated itself from the hub and damaged the fan. Fan debris exited the engine cowl at the 10,11,12 o'clock positions and damaged the stator assembly. Then engine case separated at the E1 flange an dpenetrated the oil tank causing the smoke in the cockpit. The turbine section did not sustain any damage. The suspect fan blade root was removed from the hub and will be shipped to the NTSB along with the blade to be analyzed. The CVR and dfdr were removed and shipped to the NTSB to be downloaded.

As the FAA filed it
