From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Thomas freeze recalls the landing being normal on runway 17L. The approach descent checklist was completed and they were cleared for touch-and-go's. the student was lined up on the center line, maximum power. For takeoff, she had to adjust slightly to center line. When thomas saw her hand go to the gear switch, he told her to stop and placed his hand on hers, but it was too late and the gear collapsed hitting the runway. When the gear collapsed and the aircraft was scraping the runway, thomas opened his door and saw smoke. He informed the student pilot that when the aircraft stopped they would need to evacuate. Once out of the aircraft, thomas remembered the fire extinguisher and re-entered the aircraft to retrieve and use it. He also retrieved the flight bag and log book. Both instructor and student recall the aircraft and the engines running well.
