From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 17, 2001, N50KF, a BE-55 airplane, piloted by david r. simeur made an intentional gear-up landing at Cecil airport, Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Simeur discovered that the left main landing gear was not extended during an approach to landing at Jacksonville naval air station, Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Simeur and Mr. Kevin l. rebrook, a private pilot receiving instrument instruction, elected to conduct a gear-up landing at Cecil airport, Jacksonville, Florida, after several attempts to extend all three gear had failed. The landing was completed without further incident and only minor damage was incurred. It was later discovered that a mechanical malfunction had occurred (bent left main gear extension tube) which prevented the left main gear from extending.
