From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot had intended to land at ottawa airport (owi), ottawa, KS to get fuel. On the downwind leg of the traffic pattern, the gear handle was placed in the down position. The main gear extended normally, but the nose gear remained up and locked. The FBO at ottawa confirmed the gear position from a fly by. The pilot then elected to proceed to new Century Aircenter, (ixd), where the tower confirmed that the nose gear was retracted and the main gear was extended. The pilot made a gear up landing on the grass next to runway 18. The aircraft sustained minimal damage, and the pilot and passenger were not injured. Incident #CE2001IGA0054 is considered closed with this report.
