(-23) On July 28, 2001, the pilot of a PA-18-150, N6893B, was attempting to land on a ridge top strip at an old mining camp. He had been to the strip several times before, but on this occasion there was a strong crosswind and he tried to force the aircraft onto the short runway. The airplane bounced and the pilot decided to go around. During the go around maneuver, the pilot allowed the aircraft to drift to the right of the runway where he dragged the tail through the alders and subsequently contacted the ground causing substantial damage to the aircraft.
