From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The private pilot was on a VFR flight and was cleared for takeoff on runway 6 at Erie airport. The pre-takeof runup was normal with no abnormailities noted. Upon takeoff at 500' AGL, the private pilot noted a loss of power. He called for clearance for an immediate return to the airport, landing on runway 24 without incident and taxied to the ramp. An engine mag check was completed with a problem noted with the left hand magneto. The engine was shut down, and the fuel and oil were inspected--both were found to be okay. The left hand magneto was found to have a faulty magnet. The complete magneto was replaced, an engine runup conducted, and the aircraft was returned to service. This incident is closed.
