From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) When the pilot departed Santa Fe, NM he retracted the gear and heard a loud pop. The tower informed him that his nose gear was hanging down. The mains were up and locked. The pilot elected to return to Santa Fe. The pilot successfully landed the aircraft on the mains and when the aircraft's nose settled to the ground the nose gear folded up into the wheel well. Investigation revealed the aft end of the plunger assembly broke (pn 35-825094-4). A malfunction and defect report was sent electronically on 08/03/01.
