What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(.19) On August 28, 2001, at 1600 central daylight time, an air tractor AT-401, N91922, collided with trees and the ground then caught fire after a complete loss of engine power during an aerial application of pesticides to a field in Batesville, Mississippi. The agricultural flight was conducted under the provisions of title 14 CFR part 137. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The airplane was destroyed on impact and by post-impact fire; the commercial pilot received minor injuries. The flight had departed the Panola County Airport (0M6) in Batesville at an undetermined time. Reportedly, while conducting an aerial application of pesticides to a field, the pilot commenced a steep left turn to reverse direction after spraying a swath of field. During the steep banking maneuver, the airplane lost engine power, and the pilot was unable to restart it. The pilot attempted to land in the field but was unable to maneuver around a 30-foot-wide strip of trees that separated two fields. The airplane hit the trees and came to rest in a flat attitude in the adjacent field and caught fire. Additional circumstances related to this accident are not yet known. The airplane has been released for removal and further examination of the engine. (-23) while conducting an aerial application, the engine stopped and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a field. The pilot received minor injuries while the aircraft was destroyed in the ensuing fire.
