From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Thomas richard gonet was practicing touch and go landings on runway 30 at Deland municipal airport in N66638M a Cessna 150 airplane. During climbout (at approximately 200 feet AGL) he experienced engine failure and made a landing on the extended grass "over-run" of runway 30. After checking to make sure he was ok, and realizing that no one was coming to assist him, he decided to taxi the airplane back to the fixed base of operation (Deland aviation). At this point Mr. Gonet had no intention of flying the aircrft again. During his taxi back to runway 30/12 he taxied the aircraft into a rather large ditch where it sustained substantial damage. Mr. Gonet was uninjured during this incident. The cause of the initial engine failure is under investigation at this time.
