From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot stated he departed Atlantic, Iowa airport on runway 12 with 110 gallons of liquid chemical and full fuel. After lift off aircraft started losing engine power and he make the decision to make an emergency landing in a corn field. The aircraft entered the corn field in a level attitude and traveled about 75 feet, turning to the right and coming to rest perpendicular to the direction of flight. The aircraft burned completely in the cockpit, fuel tank, and aft engine area. The fabric was burned from the empennage area and both upper and lower wings leaving only the wing tips unburned. The cause of the aircraft engine to lose power is under investigation by the operator's mechanic and will be reported to the FAA on a m&d report.
