From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)Enroute from evergreen, AL (G2H) direct to decatur, AL (dcu) at 7500' AGL aircraft experienced loss of power 1.5 hours into flight. While attempting to make an emergency landing in an open pasture aircraft struck fence causing the aircraft to nose into the ground. Damage to aircraft included bending of both main gear struts. Loss of r/h main landing gear. Engien mount bent and cracked. Propeller blades bent, and engine cowling damaged. Aircraft departed evergreen, AL with full tank (24 gallons). Visual fuel gage indicated an excess of 14 gallons remaining. Fuel valve was free and in the open position. Fuel sample from gasolator showed no water or particle contamination. Fuel ran freely from sump drain at gasolator. Engine rotated freely and indicated full of oil on dip stick. Pilot was not hurt in accident. Later inspection of fuel strainer at gasolater and finger strainer at the carburator showed no contamination present. Carb alternate air valve functioned normally. Altitude, airspeed, and temperature/humidity suggests clear air icing.
