From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)Pilot departed west maui enroute to hnl without passengers. After departure, SIC call for checklist and PIC turned transpomder on. While approaching hnl "enhanced class b airspace", two F-15 fighters joined up with the aircraft. PIC contacted ATC and was told to "squawk ident". PIC did so and the flight was notified fo the F-15S presence. PIC switched one radio to 121.5 and attempted to call fighters and there was no response. PIC was escorted to hnl by fighters without further incident. After review of the flight with the PIC, only problem detected was the failure of the "on/off" switch to be turned fully into the "on" position. PIC agreed to give briefing to rnva pilot group and give a presentation to a "wings" safety meeting discussing the flight and double checks to preform during flight operations.
