From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On October 14, 2001 at 2110 EDT, a Beech 55, registered to lynn steven, landed with an unsafe nose landing gear indication. The nose gear collapsed on touch down at the st. Petersburg-Clearwater international airport (pie), Clearwater Florida. The flight originated from dublin, Georgia and was to terminate at the Clearwater airpark (clw). The pilot stated that, on his approach to Clearwater airpark (clw) he attempted to retract flaps due to a crosswind condition and mistakenly retracted the landing gear. The pilot once realizing his mistake extended the landing gear and applied full power. The aircraft made contact with the runway resulting in damage to the nose gear, left main gear door and landing gear control linkage. The pilot was able to get the aircraft airborne and reported an unsafe nose gear down indication. The pilot then diverted to st. Petersburg-Clearwater international airport (pie) where emergency equipment was available. On landing the nose gear collapsed. The aircraft sustained minor damage. No injuries to crew or passengers.
