From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On November 2, 2001, at 1930 MST, a Cessna 210, N6394B, registered to cabezon leasing LLC, made a forced landing on new Mexico state highway 314 adjacent to mid valley airpark (E98) after losing power during a maintenance check flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time, no flight plan or weather briefing had been initiated, no damage was inflicted on the aircraft, and the certificated commercial pilot was not injured. The flight originated at mid valley airpark immediately prior to the incident. By his own admission, the pilot had checked the fuel and believed there was "enough fuel to accomplish what [he] needed". While on downwind, the engine sputtered; while turning final, the engine quit completely. The pilot determinde he could not make the runway and landed on the highway. Local police responded to the scene and after they completed their investigation, the aircraft was towed back to the hangar after which the pilot departed the airport.
