From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) CFI, james lucas stated that while his perspective student pilot was taxiing to the active runway for a familiarization flight, the student stated that he could not turn the aircraft with the brakes. Lucas, while following through with the student on the rudder pedals attempted to brake the aircraft and found that the brakes were not operative. The aircraft, without brakes rolled off the taxiway and down a small embankment where the rotating propeller contacted the ground. There was no damage to the aircraft other that it sustained a bent propeller and a sudden stoppage of the engine. There were no injuries to any of the occupants of the aircraft.
