What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Right wing contacted the ground causing the position light lens to break and thus causing other major structural damage to the right wing. Approximately 16 feet away the blades of the propeler struck the ground four times at estimated low power. The mass impact was then caused. This impact resulted in the propeller along with the flywheel to break away from the engine and remain at the point of impact. Approximately 90 feet away is where the nose of the aircraft came to rest. Debris covered a small area about seventy-five by one hundred feet. The debris consisted of engine cowl plexi-glass, shoe, eye glass case, paint and etc. There was no fuel in the right wing and no sign of fuel spillage. The left wing had an unknown amount of fuel in the tank. The fuel selector switch was in the "both tanks off" position. There were several witnesses and all say that his airplane's engine sputtered and then quit. The certificate in Mr. Sultan's possession had his name on it, but that certificate actually had been issued to a Mr. Edwin andrew kunkler. An autopsy is being performed. This investigation is ongoing.
