From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The PIC departed zph for XO5. He entered a 45 degree left downwind entry to r/w 18, with a variable wind of about 5 KTS. He then noticed an aircraft taking off on r/w 36. The PIC watched the aircraft turnout to the left and he turned N76HP into a left base leg and around to final. The PIC stated "didn't notice my gear up until too late". He further stated "I always drop my gear on the downwind leg." He said wx was VFR. It all happened about 1600, on Sunday December 2, 2001." His written statement of these facts was dated Monday dec. 3, 2001, and faxed to SO-FSDO-35 on 12/03/01. This inspector went to X05 on 12/03/2001 to inspect the aircraft which was located in the open hanger adjacent to the FBO trailer. A visual inspection indicated that this was an incident with no major damage apparent. Ref. To incident rpt. 2002-1-006.
