From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On December 11, 2001 at approximately 1630 Mr. John biafora took off with N9359H (a warren flying club plane) from Troy Oakland/Troy (7D2). The purpose of this flight was to log flight time for commercial flight maneuvers. Mr. Ilya khakham, fellow pilot and friend was in the right seat for al the flight time. Shortly after take off Mr. Biafora was notified that the aircraft was popping and had smoke coming from the engine. This radio communication was from someone on the ground. He decided to go back to the airport and while in flight, have someone verify if there was smoke. Pilot stated he heard someone say "your clean N9359H". A touch and go was attempted and aborted on takeoff roll due to sluggish power from the engine. The passenger/pilot in the right seat at this point applied the brakes and so did the pilot in command in the left seat. This action caused both main tires to be ground off and blown. Additionally, skid marks were left on the runway approximately 800 feet all the way to safety zone on runway 27.privacy data omitted
