From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Enroute from ft worth, TX, to holland, mi at 41000 ft., the crew received a baggage compartment smoke warning. The crew followed the POH and turned the "baggage pressurization" switch off, followed by turning off the "baggage heat" switch. The circuit breaker for the baggage heat system never tripped. The flight diverted into spi where an uneventful landing was made. Maintenance personnel confirmed that an in flight fire did occur. Cause of the fire is chafing of the 28VDC heating elements against cannon plugs. The fire burnt into an installation blanket, through a fiberglass panel and the covering for the panel. Having replacement parts available, the aircraft was repaired and returned to service.
