From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Filer "stuck" tanks with measuring ruler before take off from rwj (54T). He stated he equated 1 1/2 inch on the ruler to be a total of 1 1/2 hours fuel. He departed (54T) and flew locally over the galveston bay area for 30-40 minutes. He then turned toward Laporte airport with intent to get fuel. Over the west shore line of galveston bay, the engine coughed and stopped running. He switched tanks but the engine would not restart. He then applied the electric fuel boost pump and the engine restarted but ran for about a minute, then stopped again. He discerned that he could not make Laporte airport so he then selected a street to land upon and proceed to land to the east on wharton-weems boulevard an east-west street approx. 3 miles s.e. of la porte airport. He landed without further incident with no injury to himself, the aircraft, other persons or property.
