What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) After departure, pilot could not get the gear unsafe (red light) to go out during retraction. Pilot attempted to extend gear but did not get an indication that the nose gear was locked in place. Pilot attempted to lock the gear down using emergency procedure, but the emergency gear extension lever would not ratchet the nose gear down. A low approach was made past the control tower and the pilot was informed the landing looked normal. On touchdown the nose landing gear collapsed. Maintenance found the nose landing gear retracting mechanism-actuator was damaged, possibly from failure.
