From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Immediately before departure, #1 fuel tank fwd. Boost pump c/b popped. Aircraft returned to the gate, flight crew tuned on APU, upon arriving at the gate and shutting down the engines APU failed electrically and lost electrical power. After losing electrical power the cabin began to fill with smoke. The flight crew evacuated the aircraft and slides were deployed. The R-1, R-2, L-2 slides were deployed. Some passengers exited the aircraft into the jet-way through the L-1 door no injuries were reported. The flight engineer stated that just before the aircraft lost power the right pack overheat light came on and APU phase imbalance light illuminated. Logbook review disclosed that this aircraft has an ongoing APU generator phase imbalance discrepancy dating back to January 13, 2002.
