(-23) During docking operations on February 25, 2002, mesaba airlines, inc., hit the jet way shroud at gate C2 at dtw airport. The aircraft had been marshaled into a praking position by ground personnel and had stopped. When the aircraft propeller was feathered it grabbed the shroud causing damage to the aircraft's pressure vessel. No passengers were injured. This incident occurred at approximately 2015 EST and was being operated as flight number 3315. The FAA was not notified of this incident, we found the damage to the jet way while conducting surveillance at dtw. We interviewed the dtw ramp manager and chief pilots as to what happened. We also spoke to several gate agents. It appears that the jet way was positioned to receive a canadian regional jet, but a Saab 340 was the next aircraft to use the jet way. Since the jet way was in the incorrect position, the crew followed the ground marshaler's instruction. The aircraft pressure vessel was punctured by debris in 2 locations.
