What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) On Sunday, March 3, 2002, air Canada regional flight 1452 made an emergency landing at syr while enroute to bdl from yyz. The details are as follows: at 25,000 feetm the #2 engine bleed hot caution light illuminated and the #2 bleed was selected "off". As per procedure, the aircraft descended to 18,000 feet where severe turbulence was encountered. The flight attendant was thrown in the cabin and bumped her head. All other passengers were seated with their seat belts fastened. Then the #1 bleed hot light illuminated which automatically closes the engine bleed valves therefore, the pressurization was lost (#2 was shut off by the crew). This caused a torque increase on #1 engine. As the bleed hot switch cooled, the #1 bleed was automatically selected back on which caused a torque decrease on the #1 engine. The pilot saw this as an uncontrolled power excursion and so declared an emergency. As the aircraft descended from altitude and the power reduced, the demand for pressurization was decreased so no further anomalies occurred. The aircraft landed without incident. The flight attendant was taken to a local medical facility for precautionary measures but suffered no injury and wasreleased. Maintenance replaced the #2 HP bleed switch, cleaned the connectors of the pressure regulator and shut-off valves (prsov) and the aircraft was ground-run in various configurations without fault. A severe turbulence inspection was also completed, without faults, prior to the aircraft being repositioned back to yyz. This incident is considered closed.
