From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The PIC (student) states the landing gear was lowered, observed 3 green lights indicating down & locked and landing gear handle returning to neutral. The Honolulu tower did advise to change landing runway from 4L to 4R, while downwind. Airplane landed normally on main wheels, at the threshold without any abnormalities. Shortly thereafter, the two main landing gears collapsed, with the airplane skidding to a full stop. Investigation finding: the left main landing actuating cylinder rod end broken. This rod end is attached to the main landing gear actuating cylinder. The rod end part was removed and replaced. Landing gear was extended and retracted without any other malfunctions. Although, the rod end was broken. It may have been brokenduring recovery and removal of the aircraft from the landing runway.

As the FAA filed it
