From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Landing gear retraction gave unsafe warning. Crew returned for landing immediately. Upon nose wheel touchdown aircraft slowly drifted left of centerline, while crew attempted to correct with right brake without response. Nose wheel steering continued in left turn as aircraft slowed it departed left side of runway hitting a runway lite and coming to a stop approximately 15 feet off the side of runway 35. After retrieval of aircraft to runway the nose steering would not turn back to center until aircraft was lifted to take weight off of nose strut, then it centered on its own. Nose wheel tire left 3000 ft mark indicating it was skidding sideways as aircraft decellerated during landing. Right brake was still smoking when FAA arrived on scene. Inspection of nose wheel well area revealed black tire mark from tire during retraction.

As the FAA filed it
