From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mooney aircraft N6491Q sustained minor damage to the propeller, engine, landing gear and right wing tip after landing at Falcon field (ffz). The pilot in command (instructor) stated he was giving flight instruction to the student, when after the fourth landing at williams (iwa), the student reached for the landing gear bar and started to retract the gear. The instructor reached for the bar while at the same time applying engine power. He stated he pushed the bar back to its gear down position without the landing gear retracting, the aircraft lifted off the ground, then the right wing tip touched the ground without incident, he leveled the wings and proceeded to depart back to Falcon (ffz). The instructor landed the aircraft and after landing the right landing gear partially collapsed resulting in damage to the aircraft. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time. The instructor and his student were not injured.
