From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot/owner departed O20 and upon activating landing gear actuator noticed indicator light was not on. Placing the switch to the extend position, the pilot noticed no green light and visual check revealed the left main landing gear was not in sight. Pilot checked hydraulic fluid reservoir and found no reading on the dipstick indicating a major depletion of fluid from the lnd. Gear system. Pilot contacted sck tower and verified from tower that left main lnd. Gear appeared to be in a trailing position. Setting up emergency procedures to land 29L, the pilot landed, and settled (skidded) approx. 200-250 feet. Subsequent investigation revealed left main gear door actuator failed at the snap ring end causing sudden loss of hyd. Fluid. Closed.
