From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

When interviewed he stated that the aircraft landing gear was collapsed and that the propeller blades (3) were all broken off and laying next to the aircraft. He also stated that the pilot and passenger were hauled to mountain home by a local rancher that lived nearby. He stated that the incident had occurred on Wednesday 04-10-02. When interviewed the pilot stated that he had landed to search for elk antlers and when he returned to the aircraft the right tire was flat. He stated that he had not had an accident and that he was the sole occupant of the aircraft. He additionally stated that he aircraft had been moved by trailer to the owner's house in kuna Idaho. The aircraft was inspected on Tuesday 04-16-02 at the owner's house. It did not appear to have any evidence of damage. A new right tire, landing gear bungee and propeller were installed on the aircraft. The owner did not have anything to add about the status of the aircraft, nor would he comment onwhether it was involved in an accident. We contacted the pilot again on 04-16-02 and he stated that he had lied to us when he was initially interviewed because he was in the presence of the owner and did not want him to know that he had an accident with the aircraft. He stated that when he was approximately 200 feet above the ground the engine quit and he had to land in the meadow. He stated that he had a hard landing which partially broke the landing gear bungee and broke the prop. He stated that he cut the bungee to allow the aircraft down to the ground due to hard wind in the area. He stated that him and some other guy that just happened to be hiking in the area were hauled out of the remote area by a rancher. He stated that he had returned the next day with the owner to retrieve the aircraft in the owner's trailer.
