From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 04-21-02 at approximately 1746 hours local PDT. Mr. James allen shoenberger, an ATP rated pilot, was acting as pilot in command of a pitts aircraft, N711Q, which he owns. The aircraft was parked in the transient aircraft parking area at the Fresno-Chandler Downtown Airport, Fresno, CA. Mr. Shoenberger was maintaining his parked position with the engine running while holding the foot brakes on as the aircraft does not have an emergency brake. He was intending to relocate for refueling and was setting his dark glasses down when he heard a noise, realized he was moving and applied the brakes harder stopping the aircraft. He raised up and checked in front of the aircraft and immediately shut down the aircraft engine. The aircraft had inched forward and the nose spinner scraped and the propeller struck the right elevator of a Cessna 172, N73113. The right elevator of the Cessna 172 and the propeller of the pitts suffered the only damage in the collision of the two aircraft. There were no injuries in this incident.
