From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During takeoff and after V-1 AA1307 experienced compressor stalls in the number 2 engine. Following approved procedures, the throttle on the affected engine was retarded to idle and engine parameters were normal. The throttle remained at idle throughout the flight. Another aircraft reported debris on the runway which was determined to be tire particles. Since the flight was fueled for bna/lax the captain elected to burn excess fuel prior to landing. The right main gear indicated unsafe since the tire debris had severed the power line to the gear position indicator switch. After landing, it was discovered that the number 3 main tire had shed the entire recap but the tire remained inflated. A large portion of the recap was located in the number 2 engine inlet resting on the inlet guide vanes, accounting for the compressor stalls. Some cowl damage was noted due to the recap trajectory. After landing the gear was safety-pinned and the aircraft towed to the gate.

As the FAA filed it
