From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was making second landing at this airport when on approach aircraft suddenly dropped and contacted the ground approximately 225 feet short of runway. Pilot does not remember anything about the accident. Passenger stated that the approach was low but they had good airspeed at 80 mph and were lined up good with the runway when suddenly aircraft just dropped. He stated winds were fairly strong aloft but not bad on the ground. He feels they hit a wind shear and pilot failed to maintain control of the aircraft. Neither pilot nor passenger stated any mechanical problems. No mechanical irregularities were found with the aircraft.
