From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On approach to Oakland, the first officer was flying, the airspeed was approximately 220 knots, with flaps at 9 degrees. The first officer extended the speed brake to slow to 170 knots airspeed as assigned by ATC. When he closed the lever, the spoiler fail light illuminated on the eicas display panel, and the speed brakes remained open. The crew elected to go around in order to accomplish the appropriate checklists. As the aircraft entered downwind, the airspeed increased and the crew stated they felt a moderate buffet. The flight crew then insructed the flight attendant to visually verify if the spoilers were open and they were. At that point an emergency landing had already been declared by the crew, as required by their checklist. The crew landed the aircraft without event and with no aircraft limitations exceeded. Upon arrival, kaiserair, inc. was contracted by American eagle for the discrepancy. The maintenance action take concluded after performing ground and flight spoiler operational checks, in accordance with Embraer maintenance manual, ata 27-63-01, the system checked normal.
