From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Refueled in wichita, KS. While cruising at 10,000 ft. engine appeared to lose power. Airspeed dropped, and cruise descent was initiated. Power reduction to 16" map resulted in smoother operation. Maintained power setting until downwind pattern entry. Landing checklist executed by passenger/co-pilot. Further power reduction resulted in engine stoppage. Despite switching tanks, and adding boost pump fuel, engine would not restart. Pilot decided he was unable to make the runway, an adjacent highway was over-crowded, so full flaps were selected with gear down, and a landing was executed 1.75 miles se of apa. Aircraft landed and stopped with minimal damage (LH wingtip). No injuries to persons on board.
