From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 05/28/02 aircraft N1075S collided with the terrain prior to landing at the grand canyon area known as the ramada. Visual inspection of the area indicated the helicopter contacted an area of rising terrain approximately 500 yards from the intended landing area. The helicopter contacted the terrain approximately 15 feet below the crest of the slope. Skid marks showed the right skid contacted first then rocked onto the left skid then back to the right skid. This covered an area of approximately 75 feet on rising terrain. The aircraft then cartwheeled into the air with the skid tubes, tailboom, and main rotor blades separating from the main fuselage. The aircraft came to rest on its left side. There was no post crash fire.
