From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On landing, pilot flared high and stalled the aircraft four feet above the runway resulting in a 3 g hard landing. On impact, left main landing gear axle hub retaining nuts (four, an 365-428A) were sheared off the axle hub retaining bolts (an 4-25A) resulting in the loss of the left main gear axle hub/wheel assembly. Aircraft skidded a total of 900 ft. on the remaining composite left main landing gear strut to an uneventful stop. Aircraft incurred no other damages other than the loss of the axle wheel/hub assembly, and minor damage to the left main gear strut. Design of stoddard-hamilton (glasair 1FT) main landing gear is being addressed with new glasair LLC to determine if there is a design problem.
