From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The accident aircraft was properly registered, and a FAA form 8130-7 (special airworthiness certificate) with research and development experimental operating limitations attached was issued on 05-05-02. At the time the accident occurred the aircraft was being operated in accordance with its experimental operating limitations. The accident pilot was properly certificated and rated and possessed a valid medical. We note, however, that the pilot had limited experience in a similar weight/size/performance aircraft. In addition, no flight test plan had been developed as is suggested in advisory circular 90.89A.
