From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft landed in a strong crosswind and the right main gear collapsed. Pilot stated that when he was making his approach the wind was calm, but as he descended, the tower reported an increase in the wind. As he landed, the wind sock was straight and at least a 35 knot or more crosswind. He stated that the aircraft ground looped and the drag link on the right main gear broke and the gear collapsed. The damage to the aircraft was minor; one fiberglass wingtip, landing gear drag link, lower skin on elevator, and minor damage to flap. Estimated cost is less than $1500.00. Pilot stated his mistake was not doing a go-around. privacy data omitted
