From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Johnson, who was the PIC and only person onboard, was attempting to take off from an unimproved area--a dirt road. On lift off the aircraft drifted to the right and struck some small pine trees at about five feet above ground level. The pine trees were about eight feet in height. The aircraft rotated to the right and hit the ground on the right main gear. It continued to rotate to the right and came to rest at about a 90 degree angle to the road. The aircraft came to rest in an upright position. There was no injury to the pilot and minor damage to the aircraft.
