From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reported gear up landing occurred due to landing gear hydraulic system failure. The aircraft landed on the grass at Arlington airport, and suffered no damage. Inspection found a failed relay in the landing gear hydraulic system. This caused the system pump to continue operation after system had built up pressure during last retract of the landing gear. This continuous operation elevated the hydraulic fluid temperature to the point that the system reservoir failed (melted). After the gear up landing, the aircraft was repaired and a higher rated relay was installed in the electrical portion of the hydraulic landing gear system. In addition, an advisory light was installed in the cockpit to alert the pilot of continuous operation of the landing gear hydraulic pump.

As the FAA filed it
