From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot indicated that he was circling lake quinault contemplating a landing. During his scan he thought he noticed the oil pressure to be lower than normal although his phone statement indicates he was not sure he was observing it correctly. Upon landing to the west the aircraft looped to the right. The left wing tip struck the water and the wing tip was torn from the wing. Immediately the pilot noticed that the aircraft was taking on water so he taxied to the north shore. The aircraft was beached on the rocky shoreline to prevent it from sinking. The pilot enlisted some local help to drag the aircraft up out of the water during which time a few more scratches were received by the airframe. Damage to the aircraft: missing LH wing tip, 4"X6" puncture to the hull bottom just fwd of the step, partial loss of the ventral tail fin, MLG damage, center keel missing from nose to 1 foot fwd of step, RH fwd sister keel pulled loose.
