From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Harrell with his son as passenger departed dayton wright brothers airport (mgy) at 11:15 local time. Climbing through 2500 ft. en-route to aurora, IL. Manifold pressure was lost. The engine would not maintain power and altitude was not sufficient to return to mgy. The pilot performed an emergency landing in a soybean field. There were no injuries to pilot or passenger. The left wing struck a tree limb on descent causing minimal damage. This damage consisted of a 2 inch dent 1.5 inches deep to the leading edge 11 inches inboard of the wing tip. The prop tips were bent back 6 inches inboard at a 45 degree angle. No propeller ground strikes could be seen.
