From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was on a training flight, when the instructor was demonstrating an auto-rotation for the student. During the procedure, the aircraft entered a dust-devil inadvertently which caused the aircraft to settle at a rate that could not be arrested prior to contact with the ground. Once the aircraft contacted the ground the aircraft rolled over causing the main rotor to strike the ground. (.19) on July 27, 2002, about 1330 mountain standard time, a Robinson R22 beta, N232DR, was substantially damaged during a hard landing from a practice autorotation in a farm field near Prescott, Arizona. The helicopter was operated by guidance air of Prescott. Neither the certified flight instructor nor the student were injured. The instructional flight was operating under 14 CFR part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the operation, and a company flight plan was filed. The flight originated about 1300 from Prescott.
