From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft departed alamogordo, NM on 07/30/02 at 0630 local time. The aircraft was 19.4 miles north of alamogordo when the aircraft's engine failed. The pilot made an emergency landing on a road in a pecan orchard just outside of Tularosa, NM. No damage to the aircraft, no injuries to the single pilot and no passengers onboard. A preliminary boroscope at the scene showed damaged compressor turbine blades. A verbal recap of the teardown showed compressor turbine blade damage and was most likely the origin of the failure, cause unknown. Individual examination of all the turbine compressor blades is expected to take 3 to 5 weeks.
