From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot, Mr. James c. brown, stated that he departed river side airport in the am of August 31, 2002. He arrived at airman acres in Collinsville, OK a short time later. Around 11:30 the pilot stated that he departed airman acres, did a touch and go at the nowata airport and then proceeded to miami with the intention of landing. The pilot said that when he placed the gear switch in the lower position, he did not have a green light and did not land. The pilot immediately check the fuse and found it was ok, the ampmeter indicated that the motor was drawing power when the gear switch was cycled either way. The pilot stated that he had around three hours of fuel and elected to return to airman acres. When the pilot arrived at airman acres, he reviewed the emergency gear extension procedures, followed the check list point by point and the gear would not release. The pilot elected to land to the north at airman acres, he came in low and slow, he pulled the mixure and landed. The landing was smooth, and the aircraft skidded about 100YARDS.
