From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) In a written statement obtained from the pilot, he stated he departed Dexter Municipal Airport at 8:58 a.m. for an aerial application to a cotton field approximately 6 miles southeast. At 10:20 a.m. during a turn to set up for a final pass the engine lost power and the propeller came to a complete stop. Pilot stated he verified mixture was full rich, throttle full forward, magnetos both on, and master was on. Pilot tried to make an emergency landing in a turn row oriented 90 degrees from the path the aircraft was traveling, but while turning toward the landing point the aircraft impacted the ground prior to reaching it and skidded sideways across the turn row.
