From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was practicing autorotations in the area of AZ82 (mogollon airpark) approx. 7.8 miles n.w. of the airport, he entered an autorotation @ approx. 500 ft (AGL) heading n.e. the approach was straight-in to a selected grass area. He entered his flare @ approx. 50 ft. (AGL). As he approached ground level he noticed a 1/4 tailwind from the s.w. which skewed the helicopter causing his touchdown to bounce, tail high, and then r/h skid dug in flipping him over and coming to rest on the r/h side of the helicopter. No injuries, no fire. (.19) on September 13, 2002, at 0800 mountain standard time, a siemens rotorway executive 162F, N104BJ, sustained substantial damage during a hard landing after performing an autorotation at the mogollon airport, Overgaard, Arizona. The private pilot/owner operated the experimental helicopter under the provisions of 14 CFR part 91. The pilot, the sole occupant, was not injured. The local area flight originated from the mogollon airport. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan had been filed. According to the federal aviation administration (FAA) inspector, the pilot was conducting a series of autorotations at the airport. On the accident autorotation the helicopter pivoted on one skid and rolled over on its right side. The FAA inspector reported that weather conditions at the time of the accident were clear skies, and a temperature of 68 degrees fahrenheit.
