From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to pilot statement on October 13, 2002, the pilot and his brother departed Lumberton airport around 1:15 pm, on runway 13. They climbed to 1400 feet. They had been flying for about 20 minutes when they decided to return to the airport which was about 8 miles north, at this time the propeller suddenly went to maximum speed. The pilot attempted to adjust the propeller speed using the propeller control but no response. The oil pressure indicated zero pressure. The pilot at this time landed the aircraft in a soybean field.
