From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) From asap report on flight 3940 on 11/10/02. Approaching mem line of severe thunderstorms. They closed airport due to high winds and severe windshear. Already deviating course quite a bit for weather, the hold fuel was basically depleted when we were assigned to holding. Already near bingo fuel for the alternate to lit the crew deviate due to wx and fuel. Mem ctr at that point said to expect at least an hour to get into mem. They were vectored south due to another line of weather. Projecting how long the line of wx was, the crew then roughly estimated they would land in lit with 400LBS. At this point they declared min. Fuel and paralleling line they noticed a "green" intensity gap of 12 miles that would put then direct to lit to land with maybe 1000LBS facing the 100 kt headwind crew then declared emergency and severe turbulence for priority to lit.
