From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot stated he and a passenger were on final to stockton, CA (sck) and discovered the gear was not extending. They flew to a nearby airport byron (C83) to troubleshoot the problem. Not being able to remedy the problem, they flew to livermore, CA (lvk) and had the control tower verify that the gear was not extended. They notified lvk of their intent to land at San Jose, CA (sjc) and proceeded as usual. They were cleared to land by sjc tower and made an intentional gear-up landing. During investigation it was found that the aircraft had a defective gear up limit switch. This caused the gear motor to run continuously in the "up" direction which caused the motor to overheat and pop the circuit breaker.

THEY NOTIFIED LVK OF THEIR INTENT TO LAND AT SAN JOSE, CA (SJC) AND PROCEEDED AS USUAL. THEY WERE CLEARED TO LAND BY SJC TOWER AND MADE AN INTENTIONAL GEAR-UP LANDING.
